All members of Kalamazoo College's community who plan to engage in research using human subjects must successfully complete this ethics module. Failure to complete this module means that the IRB will not review a research proposal and that no research involving human subjects can be completed.
In addition, understanding the ethics behind research with human subjects is important for academic scholarship and the protection of research subjects. A violation of these ethical principles is a violation of Academic Integrity.
In this module, you will be presented with information regarding the History and Guiding Principles of doing research with human subjects. At the end, you will be given a 10 question quiz. To successfully complete the module, you must answer at least 7 of the 10 questions correctly. If you do not answer at least 7 questions correctly, the module will start over so that you will have another opportunity to review the information. Once you have successfully scored at least 7/10 on the quiz, you will be presented with an acknowledgment that you have successfully completed the module. This notification should be saved and submitted along with your Kalamazoo College IRB application.
